For My Beloved Country

Deceive me not, I shall not be deceived/ The truth, unnoticed/ As if by chance/ I have perceived/ Burnt ambers lie upon the fallen dew/ I see no one/ Perhaps there’s no one to be seen/ No! No! I cry/ Why not spare my kin?

Happy Cows Produce More Milk

It must be one of the best-kept secrets in Israel that most of the dairy farmers in Israel are equipped with an undergraduate degree in the field! Maybe a high degree of education is typical of other countries’ farmers, but not in Kansas, where I grew up.

An Interview with former Soviet Space Program Physicist/Jewish Hero, Igal Gurvich

This past April 15th, when my parents were visiting in Israel, my father and I had a unique opportunity to attend a Yom Ha’atzmaut picnic organized by a group of former refusniks (Jews who spent many years trying to leave the Soviet Union). We were invited because my father had studied Hebrew under the tutelage of Arye Volvovsky (of Efrat) who ended up spending three years in a Soviet prison for his “anti-government” activities.
